What can Waves Spa offer college students?
- Extensive research shows that massage decreases depression, anxiety and stress; provides mental clarity and relaxation; increases self-respect and a will to live; releases tension and lifts the sense of feeling trapped; improves stamina and energy level and leaves the client with an overall sense of well-being.
- Our professional staff models non-sexual and non-violent safe touch for students during a time of their lives when they are exploring relationships.
- FIU students frequently come by Waves Spa in search of support, to express how overwhelmed they feel, to let us know how they did on an exam or simply to sit in the peaceful space with a complimentary cup of tea to regroup and center themselves.
- Waves Spa is a non-stigmatized, non-threatening, non-authority, non-peer source of support where students come to feel better.
- Waves Spa offers students education in self-care that they can learn to incorporate and maintain for the rest of their lives.
